Stream guide :

Hi guys i will provide a small guide to help you set up a stream if you want to stream your game(s) .So lets get started :

First of I recomend using www.justin.tv because of the features they provide and for the speed.

Step 1 : Visit www.justin.tv and set up an account by registering.Once you registered go to your email ( wich you used to register @ justin.tv ) and click the confirmation link.By confirming your registration you will get a chanel.

Step 2 : Log in to your justin.tv account and hoover your mouse over your name, you will see there a button called CHANNEL and click it.You will be redirected to your channels settings where you have channel name , descriptions and other good stuff. Now these settings are up to you they are not complicated so just fill them out :P

Step 3 : Visit www.xsplit.com.Register there as well and go to your email adress and click the confirmation link. This will redirect you to the xsplit site where you can download Xsplit. This software will allow you to stream your desktop/games etc.

Step 4 : Install Xsplit and log in.

Step 5 : Once Xsplit launched go to BROADCAST -> EDIT CHANNELS. A new window will apear where you have the possibility to ADD a channel by clicking ADD... and select JUSTIN.TV.
Another window will appear whit some text boxes to fill out :

  Channel :
    - Username : [ your justin.tv username ]
    - Password : [ your justin.tv password ]
When you fill out these 2 fields the Channel should automatically apear in the list

Video encoding :  [ I will write down my settings but you have experiment what kind of stream you can get out ]
    - Preset : streaming
    - Quality : 6
    - Max Bitrate : 600
    - Buffer size : 1300
    - Codec : X.264
    - Resolution : Default Stage Resolution

Audio Encoding : [ My settings again ]
   - Format : 22.050 KHz 16 bit stereo
   - Bitrate : fills himself out automatically after you select the format
   - Code : MP3

There is also a checkbox called "Automatically record broadcast" ... obvious what it does, but justin.tv records everything automatically onto the site.

You are all set up here you can hit OK and than go to RESOLUTIONS tab where you select your prefered stream resolution. My res for example is 1280 x 720 (16:9) - HDTV ( video ).Once you finished by resolutions hit APPLY.

Step 6 : You have to select what you want to stream. You can set up multiple configurations in different scenes but i will show you how to do the basic, you can play around once your more familiar with xsplit.
Select SCEEN 1 and hit ADD -> ADD SCREEN REGION at the bottom left part of xsplit. You will see a red croshair, click your desktop once with it.You will get your desktop in your preview window wich you have grab with your mouse and strech it out to be full screen.

Step 7 : Click VIEW -> RESOLUTIONS -> 1280 x 720  [ THIS IS MY RES ]. Than hit VIEW -> FRAME RATE and select 25 [ once again these are my settings ]
You can resize the xsplit window by clicking VIEW -> SCALE VIEWPORT and selecting a lower %.

Step 8 : Going live is the easy part and also the last step. You just simply have to click BROADCAST -> [ YOUR CHANNEL NAME ] and the stream will be going live. When you go live xsplit copies your stream link into your clipboard wich you can send to other people by hiting ctrl+v to paste the link back.
[ NOTE ] : your stream link will stay the same.
You can stop the stream as you started it, by clicking BROADCAST -> [ YOUR CHANNEL NAME ].

Going LIVE on the vm forum :

You can have a stream status in the vm-gaming forum by clicking the STREAMS button next to the VM logo and than clicking TOGGLE YOUR STATUS.
The way it works for now is when you push the button for the first time it will ask you the link of your stream and be carefull because this is not the embed code for your stream it is the direct link for it ex. :
VM-Delta's channel on Justin.tv

Once you do this your user name will apear under the streams tab ad you can switch from being OFFLINE to ONLINE by clicking TOGGLE YOUR STATUS button
